'In Miss Pettigrew Lives for Day we are whisked to a world of froth, frolics and fun underpinned nonetheless by a serious message: we all get a second chance. This is brilliantly conveyed by the story of Miss Pettigrew, a governess whose luck spectacularly changes when she is hired by the gorgeous nightclub singer Miss LaFosse. I defy anyone not to weep a tear of joy at the ending, which I will not spoil by revealing it here. You will have to read the book to find out and I know you will thank me for it.'
